Cornwall is a mecca for artists and you will find galleries all over the place!
The Tate, St Ives – Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Tate St Ives showcases work by artists including Barbara Hepworth, Marlow Moss, Naum Gabo and Patrick Heron, whose captivating works have brought international attention to St Ives and West Cornwall. Alongside displays from the Tate collection, the gallery presents modern and contemporary art from around the world through a dynamic exhibitions programme.
Penlee House Gallery – The gallery is the perfect place to discover the art of West Cornwall, including the works of the Newlyn School and Lamorna artists. The museum covers local history, from amazing archaeological finds to fabulous ceramics, social history and fashion.
Lemon Street Gallery – Now in its twenty-third year, Lemon Street Gallery is one of the country’s leading contemporary galleries. It occupies a classical, elegant and spacious building within Truro’s prestigious Lemon Street and has an enviable reputation for offering a vibrant eclectic programme of exhibitions and quality publications.
Gallery Anthony – Established in 2001 by husband and wife artists, Anthony and Marjorie Smith. Over the years, they have developed it into a customer centred space; giving visitors, their children and their dogs a warm, welcoming environment in which they can view and explore their vibrant and dramatic artwork, which is inspired by the Cornish land and seascape. The gallery is also their studio, enabling visitors to see the work as it progresses.
The New Craftsman – The New Craftsman was founded in the 1960s by potter Janet Leach. Since that time, it has exhibited the work of many of the UKs most important and influential artists and established itself as an authority on 20th century St Ives art, contemporary painting, and contemporary British and international craft. The New Craftsman now represents more than 100 artists and presents eight curated exhibitions a year, with a focus on the very best new work by established and rising painters, potters, sculptors and fine-art jewellers.
